BASINGSTOKE: Gas Safe registered businesses can access a new and updated Marketing Toolkit to help them communicate more effectively with their customers as the heating season kicks into gear.  The revised guidance material is designed to be used by directly by registered businesses and also by professional printers or other suppliers acting on their behalf.

Updates since the last version include improved brand guidelines on everything from typefaces to trademarks and worked examples on the ‘Do's and Don'ts' of using the logo, including how it should be used alongside other branding. The Marketing Toolkit includes additional versions of the Gas Safe Register logo for use in a wider range of situations and a range of web banners for registered businesses to use on their websites.

The brand guidelines also include a fully updated ‘Frequently Asked Questions' which has been revised in line with the questions Gas Safe Register received from engineers.

Paul White, head of marketing for Gas Safe Register said: "All of the changes are designed to make the Marketing Toolkit easier to use, clearer and more relevant to the needs of Gas Safe registered businesses and those producing material on their behalf. We have listened very closely to the feedback we have received to make sure that Toolkit is as clear as possible and makes it easier for registered businesses to communicate clearly with their customers."

The brand guidelines also include information on increased protection for the brand - the Gas Safe logo is now protected by the R symbol rather than the TM. This is because the brand is now a fully registered trademark. The change is an important one in terms of providing greater legal protection for the brand but will not result in any change for registered businesses.

Mr White added: "The change from TM to R means there is greater legal protection behind the brand. The new version is available as part of the revised Marketing Toolkit from 1st September but it is very important to stress that Gas Safe Registered businesses using the version with TM will not have to replace any material.  If a business has a van sticker, an advert or any other material with the TM version then that remains fine to use - this update simply means that when businesses order new items they will have access to the new version in the Marketing Toolkit."

"The update gives the brand greater legal protection but will not mean Gas Safe registered businesses have to incur additional costs."
