LEAMINGTON SPA: The first Plumb Center renewables training course takes place at the Sustainable Building Center (SBC) this week.
The SBC has been transformed into a BPEC accredited training and skills facility, providing people with the skills to become installers of new sustainable home technologies – such as solar panels or ground source heat pumps.
There are currently 13 different courses on offer including solar thermal installer, heat pump installer as well as courses on solar PV, legislation and safety, water harvesting and underfloor heating.
Fittingly, the first course to run is renewable energy awareness, a course for people, including householders, housing associations, teachers, local building control officers, housing developers and installers wishing to learn more about existing and emerging renewable energy technologies.
Simon Allan, renewables director, Plumb Center said: “Delegates will gain an understanding of the various renewable technologies available and will also be able to see them in action in the SBC – heating the water, generating electricity and even when they flush the toilets.
“Successful completion of the majority of our courses gives delegates a BPEC qualification which counts towards the Microgeneration Certification Scheme. This is essential for installers who want to offer their customers installations that qualify for Feed-in-Tariffs or the recently announced Renewable Heat Incentive.”
