IMMINGHAM: Clark Construction has ceased trading. Administrators from the P&A Partnership confirmed to the BBC that the North Killingholme contractor's workforce has been laid off.

Administrator John Russell said: "Unfortunately, the company suffered from the downturn in the construction sector and the bad weather before Christmas compounded the company's financial difficulties.

"We have been on site assisting staff with claim forms for redundancy payments and other entitlements."

Clark worked for a mixture of public sector and private clients and was working on a number of contracts for North East Lincolnshire and Hull County Council when it went under.

Clark had been trading since 1979.
