BUCKHAVEN: Timber specialist James Donaldson & Sons has welcomed a sixth generation of Donaldson to the business.

Andrew Donaldson, son of chairman and chief executive Neil Donaldson, joins his father and brother Michael in the family company to embark on an 18-month management training programme.

Andrew Donaldsonwill be spending the next year and a half on work placements at each of the Group’s main trading subsidiaries: Donaldson Timber Engineering, James Donaldson Timber, MGM Timber and Parker Kislingbury.

Mr Donaldson is the second son of Neil Donaldson to join James Donaldson & Sons. Eldest son Michael Donaldson has worked for the company for eight years and currently manages the Donaldson Timber Engineering branch in Scotland.

Commenting on his new role, Andrew Donaldson said: “I’m proud to be joining my brother Mike as the sixth generation to work in the family business. I look forward to moving forward in the company and helping to build on the success which has been shaped by my ancestors - particularly my father and grandfather, who have been inspirational to me, growing up. ”

Prior to joining the family firm, Andrew Donaldson spent four years working at accountancy firm KPMG, where he qualified as a chartered accountant.
