UK: Hundreds of people across the builders‟ merchant and wood products sectors have gained their Timber Studies Award through SCA Timber Supply since it started running fast-track courses for customers in autumn 2000.

On Tuesday 9 November 2010, SCA will hold a special CPD (Continuing Professional Development) event for members of its graduate community, topically entitled "Wood. For buildings? For biomass? Or …?‟. The event, debating future direction of wood supply, will be held in the recently-restored, wood-panelled Great Chamber at New Hall in Sutton Coldfield, near Birmingham, from 4.30-7pm, followed by refreshments and celebration cake. The historic nature of the venue means places are limited, so those interested in attending are advised to make contact with Kay Foster at SCA‟s head office as soon as possible (kay.foster@sca.com).

SCA managing director Rob Simpson, responsible for starting the company‟s customer training programme ten years ago, comments: “We hope our course graduates will take this opportunity to be part of the very real debate on the use of wood resources. It‟s also a chance to network with others from different parts of the trade and learn from each other‟s experiences.”
