DUBLIN: Late payment continues to be an issue for businesses in Ireland, according to the latest Payment Performance report from Experian.
On average in 2009, Irish businesses settled their bills 25 days beyond credit terms, five days slower than companies in Northern Ireland, which paid their bills on average 20 days beyond terms.
By analysing the payment records of tens of thousands of businesses in Ireland and Northern Ireland, including those owned by overseas companies, Experian is able to identify both if when companies are going to pay their debts.
The latest Experian payment performance analysis also revealed that in the Republic, Cavan businesses were the quickest to pay their bills, averaging just 21.28 days beyond terms in 2009, and businesses in Waterford the slowest, paying on average 32.15 days beyond terms.
