On 1st November 2019, Metsä Wood is opening a new terminal in Ipswich, Suffolk.
The opening of this hub follows significant expansion and sustained year-on-year growth over the last five years for UK arm of the Finnish timber company, one of the leading European producers of engineered wood products.
The terminal will be home to comprehensive sawn joinery stock, with more shipments planned to ensure long-term consistency and reliability for joinery sales.
Metsä Wood’s established terminal in Seaham will continue to serve existing and new customers nationwide. Currently, the majority of Metsä Wood UK’s joinery sales are delivered or collected directly from the port at Seaham. Operating from two hubs will see a significant increase in availability.
As well as acting as hubs for nationwide deliveries with a possible 48 hour delivery lead time, customers can arrange their own transport and collect anything from a single pack to full loads, thanks to a free ‘pick a pack’ service available at either location.
Both joinery terminals will create increased sales opportunities in the UK and Ireland from the Metsä Fibre sawmills in Finland and Russia.
