Construction materials supplier SIG Distribution has appointed Nigel Boothby as Health, Safety and Environment Manager.

Boothby joins SIG Distribution – a division of SIG plc – with more than 30 years of experience in health and safety, most recently with Jeld Wen UK, where he held the same position as the one he is moving into.

He has also worked with ESCO UK, the Environment Agency and Unipart Logistics.

In his new role, Boothby will play a key role in the implementation of SIG’s Zero Harm programme, aiming to reduce accidents across the company's operations.

On being appointed to his new role, Boothby said: “I am looking forward to working with the SIG team to help make a difference in our safety performance. We have ambitious targets as we look to create Zero Harm environments for our people to work in.”

Boothby will report to SIG Distribution’s Operations Director, Rupert Tubbs, who said: “Nigel brings with him many years of experience in health and safety and process excellence across many sectors and in multi-site organisations. Nigel joins at a pivotal time in our Zero Harm journey, and will bring with him a focus on cultural and measurable improvement.”
