The Company

Our dynamic client is one of the UK’s fastest growing distributors of construction products for a range of applications including fire protection, thermal and acoustic insulation, roofing, suspended ceilings, partitions and interior systems. They operate via a branch network strategically positioned to optimise efficiency and speed of delivery and pride themselves on having knowledgeable teams providing excellent customer service levels.

The Role

This is a leadership role. Reporting to and working with the Regional Director as well as other senior leaders, the successful candidate will be a strong leader with an eye for detail and an experienced commercial business manager with a proactive sales oriented approach and exceptional communication and people skills. The ability to forge and maintain strong working relationships with customers, suppliers, the branch team as well as colleagues throughout the business is imperative in order to drive their own branch and wider business levels forward in support of company strategy, targets and operational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily activities of branch sales personnel.
  • Monitor sales, contribution and performance at branch.
  • Set local strategy for target products.
  • Drive customer service levels to exceed customer expectation.   
  • Manage sales development locally in target market sectors.
  • Identify where changes and improvements can be made.
  • Lead by example, set clear direction and give regular feedback. 
  • Create an environment which encourages proactive teamwork.
  • Recruit, identify and work with talent for the future.
  • Maximise sales contribution and cost controls.
  • Develop and execute of business plans for the branch.
  • Develop and maintain sound commercial relationships with suppliers.
  • Ensure purchasing trends correspond with budget targets.

Essential Skills and Behaviors

  • Sales, customer service and people management experience, numerate, literate, IT knowledge (MS office), sales experience, product knowledge.
  • Customer focused, good communication and negotiation, results driven, team player, detail conscious, personable, analytical, business and commercially focused.
