Are you an interior designer working within a practice that would like the opportunity to join one of the most prestigious and highly respected flooring manufacturers in the world?

If so, we are working with a leading manufacturer of HIGHLY DESIRABLE FLOOR COVERING SOLUTIONS who are seeking to recruit an experienced CONCEPT DESIGNER to join their team in London with responsibility for Product Design and supporting their highly successful and established specification sales team in LONDON


The Role

To collaborate with the existing specification team promoting floor covering design, patterns, sustainability and product capabilities internally and externally working closely with my client’s design partner clients within London’s most prestigious and well recognised practices.

Our Client’s high quality, market leading range of Floor Covering solutions are promoted mainly via Interior Designers and direct to end user clients along with supporting the contractor fraternity by raising awareness and supporting the client’s specifications and requirements through every step of the process from initial concept to completion.  

The importance of this position will ultimately make the successful candidate the go to person for Design in the London area enabling the external sales team to operate more effectively in the pursuance of more new and exciting projects for you to play an integral part in.

Position summary:

Create innovative carpet design solutions through holistic knowledge of the project with key accounts within a specific geographic area. The primary focus of this position is to service and support the regional sales team through direct connection with clients to capture and interpret design briefs.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with key clients to develop custom carpet solutions through a collaborative environment.
  • Responsible for taking designs from concept to full colour product completion.
  • To research the market for new trends, and the ability to create from patterns, ideas, and colour directions for the design of innovative products.
  • Develop exceptional custom design by using computer aided design system (CAD).
  • Manage interface between Client, Sales, and Custom Department.
  • Identify and target key decision makers focused on expertise that will allow my client to develop a business strategy to meet the customer needs.
  • Must be able to identify a problem and implement innovative solution with little to no assistance.
  • Develop and maintain both trend and product presentations.
  • Manage the design process to ensure that key dates/deliverables are met.
  • Conduct project meetings and conference calls with designers, architects and end users.
  • Coordinate pattern and colour development as it relates to the full scope of the project
  • Understand the trend in design and colour as it relates to each project.
  • Attend and participate in sales meetings and trade shows.
  • Develop insight into market needs and expectations as it relates response time.
  • Working with the brands owners on new projects and renovations.
  • Ensure that design requirements meet manufacturing criteria.
  • Review design brief with line Manager to ensure that all information is documented at the start of the project.
  • Develop a measurement tool to ensure accuracy in interpretation of design brief to improve response time and the number of revisions.
  • Stay abreast of competition and competitive information and keep management informed of any changes in market conditions.
  • Working with our sales managers in each area in understanding hospitality sales and their role in the process.


  • Relevant Design degree OR  HND/ONC equivalent OR 5+ years Previous carpet design experience required operating in a similar capacity
  • Trained in colour and design application.
  • Must have the ability to think creatively outside of conventional concepts.
  • Understanding of the basic concepts of carpet manufacturing.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Good time management skills - able to meet prescribed deadlines.
  • Understanding of carpet estimating and installation.
  • Ability to present confidently to clients and explain technical information in a way that establishes trust.
