Coomers Timber & Building Supplies has presented its charity of the year, a local dementia centre, with £8,061.

The independent merchant adopted The Hunter Centre as its 2018 charity of the year, fundraising at corporate events and at its three branches at Alton, Bordon & Haslemere.

The Hunter Centre operates from the Marjorie Gray Hall on Grayswood Road in Haslemere, Surrey, providing day care and stimulation for those living with various forms of dementia - whilst also giving support and advice to carers - in a relaxed, friendly and secure environment.

This is the tenth year that Coomers has adopted an annual charity, and more than £30,000 has been raised to-date for various charities, with 2018 having been a record fundraising year.

Coomers has chosen SUDEP Action as its 2019 charity, which works to prevent epilepsy related deaths and supporting families bereaved by epilepsy.

This charity came to Coomers' attention because a family local to one of their branches lost their daughter to undiagnosed epilepsy.
