IKO PLC has announced its new IKO Ambassador: Paralympian tennis player Jordanne Whiley MBE.

A tennis player since the age of three years old, Birmingham-born Whiley went on to become Britain’s youngest ever women’s single wheelchair tennis champion at the age of 14.

Since then, Whiley has gone on to win a total of ten Grand Slam titles, two bronze medals at the Paralympics and even won the Wimbledon ladies’ wheelchair doubles final in 2017 while 11 weeks pregnant.

After the birth of her son Jackson in January last year, Jordanne was unsure whether she would return to a competitive tennis career, but was inspired by fellow athlete Serena Williams’ impressive comeback after having a baby.

Whiley is now aiming to compete in the 2020 Paralympic Games and has won her first tournament already, the Tennis Foundation National Wheelchair Tennis Championships, less than a year after giving birth.

Roofing, waterproofing and insulation manufacturer IKO PLC said that Whiley “truly encompasses IKO PLC’s ethos of ‘Pushing Limits’”, and added that it is “proud” to sponsor her.
