A Portsmouth care home will be hoping to get its residents ‘all aboard’ for its new project - with the help of Covers Timber & Builders Merchants.
The Orient Express-inspired train carriage buffer car, which will provide residents with an area to enjoy hot drinks, cakes and snacks, is being installed by Blue Water Care Home. The new structure will also include its very own ticket office and waiting room area.
As well as rare items sourced by Blue Water Care Home, including seats, train doors, and luggage racks dating back to the 1930s, Covers Timber & Builders Merchants will be donating a range of building materials to help the dementia care specialist complete its project.
Julie Holland, Receptionist Administrator at Blue Water Care Home, said: “We are so excited about our new Orient Express-inspired buffet car and can’t wait to unveil it to our residents.
“We cannot thank Covers enough for their generosity in helping us to complete this project, which will further enhance our facilities and be a great source of fun, interest and relaxation for our residents.”
Dale Lambourne, Depot Manager at Covers Portsmouth, added: “We are delighted to be helping Blue Water Care Home with such a fantastic idea.
“We can’t wait to see the buffet car in all its glory once it has been completed. I am sure the residents will enjoy it for many years to come.”
And it is not just this project that Covers has donated to – its charitable Chichester branch also recently donated four wheelbarrows to the Cat & Rabbit Rescue Centre in Siddlesham.
The charity will use the wheelbarrows to distribute and carry supplies to the animals at the centre.
Depot Manager Richard Murrell said: “We are always delighted to help charities and local causes. We hope that The Cat & Rabbit Rescue Centre enjoys using the wheelbarrows for many years to come.”
