You can help the Rainy Day Trust’s most vulnerable beneficiaries during the festive period by donating towards its Christmas hampers.

The charity supports the home improvement workforce and their families in times of need. It is aiming to raise £1,000 to help fund Christmas hampers for people that receive its ongoing help.

Most of them are retired and several are now in their 90s, and so Christmas can be a lonely time and the Rainy Day Trust is sometimes the only friendly contact they have, according to the charity.

The hampers contain a few high quality food items that make a huge difference to them, including Christmas cake, mince pies, tea and coffee, jam and marmalade, shortbread biscuits. The charity also writes them all a hand-written Christmas card to show that someone cares.

Some of the beneficiaries prefer a voucher for their local supermarket so that they can pay for their Christmas dinner. Whichever route is taken, each one costs £50 plus delivery, and so donations are very welcome.
