New ROCKWOOL expansion will create 65 jobs

A multi-million pound project to build a new logistics centre for ROCKWOOL will create 65 new jobs.

The stone wool insulation manufacturer has been granted permission to develop a 20 acre storage area at its site in Pencoed, South Wales. This will boost its output by 60%.

The works will increase on-site capacity to store and distribute ROCKWOOL products, as well as improving traffic management thanks to a new access road and loading area for hauliers.

This was down to investment from the Danish-owned ROCKWOOL Group, its second multi-million pound injection to the site within the last ten years.

ROCKWOOL says the expansion is in response to trends in urbanisation and high-density, mixed-use developments which have driven year on year growth in demand for sustainable insulation products.

Managing Director Darryl Matthews said: “We are delighted to have already created 50 new permanent jobs this year.

“This development will result in 65 more jobs at ROCKWOOL, as well as providing opportunities for other businesses through our commitment to working with local suppliers on these works.

“The new facility comes at a great time when ROCKWOOL will be celebrating 40 years of business in Wales in 2019. “
