"Increasing demand and popularity" for its products has prompted a Spanish natural slate supplier to expand its UK team.

CUPA PIZARRAS is based in Northern Spain, where it has 16 quarries and 22 processing plants.

Due to growing demand for natural slate, according to Sales and Specification Manager Allan Liddell, the company needed to develop its base in the UK.

CUPA relocated its UK office from Edinburgh to Victoria, London, and appointed five new specification managers to cover the South West, South East and Greater London, Northern Wales and the North West, and the North East. It also hired a new marketing assistant to oversee its marketing strategy in the UK.

The specification team will work with professional bodies such as architects and land authorities, with the aim of making CUPA’s natural slate specified, meaning it can be sold directly to any builders’ merchants.

Liddell said: “It is great to see the team expanding in the UK.

“CUPA PIZARRAS produces 37 million natural slates for the UK per year, covering more than 40 houses per day, so it is only fitting that it develops its UK-based team to deal with increasing demand and popularity.”
