A former coaching inn has been renovated without losing its charm thanks to the teamwork of Dale Joinery and Jewson.

The property had fallen into disrepair, and its new owner, Liz Pickup, wanted to revive it. She visited the Letchworth, Hertfordshire branch of builders’ merchant Jewson for advice on which window and door supplier to use.

Jewson’s staff recommended timber window and door specialist Dale Joinery, which provided her with made-to-measure hidden spring sash windows made of European Redwood, plus flush casements, French door sets, and a single door all made in a similar style to the windows.

Pickup had decided against knocking the building down and starting again, as she said it was important to her to preserve the features of the property and respect its history.

She said: “Dale’s windows and doors have been great and they look fantastic, closely matched to the originals. We’ve also noticed that road noise is greatly reduced.”

“The project team were just as happy, the builders loved them, they came fully finished, ready to use and were easy for them to install.”

Dale Joinery’s National Sales Manager, Matt Chambers, said: “It was great to work with the team at Jewson Letchworth on the project and we were delighted to be recommended.

“It’s great to see older properties like this, with real history, revitalised and Mrs Pickup and her team have done a fantastic job.”
