LONDON: The Builders' Merchants Federation has developed and issued a new Selling Guide as part of its continued product support strategy, which is intended to help members increase their knowledge in specialist product areas.

The latest BMF Selling Guide covers palisade fencing and is designed to provide clear, concise and up-to-date information to help members advise customers and supply the correct products for each installation.

“The BMF product selling guides distributed to date have received positive feedback from our members.  The guides are being fully utilised by merchants, furthering product knowledge and increasing sales,” said BMF product support manager, Carole Green.

Palisade fencing

Steel palisade fencing is considered to be one of the best methods of security, helping to keep would be vandals or burglars off premises. Designed for strength, palisade fencing is becoming increasingly popular, particularly for commercial and industrial businesses.

The fencing is available in two different sections, ‘D’ section and ‘W’ section, both available in different widths depending on usage, and vary from light duty to high security purpose.  Palisade fencing tends to be rolled in a wider and thicker steel than standard steel fencing.  Steel palisades offer long-term weather resistance and are presented in a range of colours to suit.

The BMF Selling Guide specifies the fixings available for both ‘D’ and ‘W’ section palisade fencing. It also provides a ‘general purpose fencing’ height and length guide which suggests the thickness of the pale sections, post length, and support feet per bay.  Added information includes additional fencing features such as Dwarf fencing, which can be used, for example, alongside a hedge.  The various types of gates available and the wide choice of pale pops on offer are also explained.
