BERKSHIRE: A web tool, launched by Consolidated Fork Truck Services will guide forklift truck users to local companies accredited to the CFTS Thorough Examination Scheme.

By law, every forklift truck over 12 months old - including hire trucks - must hold a current report of Thorough Examination. Peace of mind can be assured by obtaining Thorough Examinations through CFTS- accredited companies.

"Since its formation in 2002, we have seen an exponential increase in the number of companies choosing CFTS-approved providers for their Thorough Examination needs," explained Simon Emery, chairman of CFTS.

"Managers are discovering the real benefits of comprehensive inspection, such as enhanced safety and greater productivity. To save them time and minimise confusion, out accredited company search facility is just like the CFTS Thorough Examination itself: easy-to-follow, clear and concise.

"To immediately locate CFTS accredited companies in your area, enter your postcode and a search radius. The CFTS search engine will deliver - in order of proximity - the full contact details of appropriate companies. You can also search for companies by name."

CFTS is a collaboration formed between the materials handling world's two major trade associations – the Fork Lift Truck Association (FLTA) and the British Industrial Truck Association (BITA) – to develop and administer the industry's national accreditation scheme for Thorough Examination.

Developed in co-operation with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), CFTS Thorough Examinations have been specifically designed to address the special needs of forklift trucks.
