MKM Building Supplies has been commemorated with a sand sculpture at the Redcar Sand Sculpture Festival in recognition of its continued support of the event.

Taking place annually on Redcar seafront, the festival attracts sculptors and sand artists. Falling over the Bank Holiday weekend, MKM Redcar supported this year’s event, providing over sixty tonnes of sand for the experts and the general public to enjoy.

Many of the artists travelled from across Europe to be involved. They included Sikke-Bart Frieling, Maxim Gazendam and Jereon Advocaat from The Netherlands. Also Jan Zelinca from the Czech Republic as well as Nicola Wood and Zara Gaze from the U.K. Most of the sand art sculpted at this year’s event depicted scenes from famous maritime films.

The sculpture festival forms part of 'Kick Off The Summer', arranged by the Friends of Redcar group in partnership with Redcar and Cleveland Council. Now enjoying its third successful year, the community-focused event brings the seafront to life with a wide variety of family-friendly activities. This is MKM Redcar’s third time as a sponsor.

Scott McCabe, Branch Director at MKM Redcar, said: “This event wouldn’t be possible without the all the sculptors, volunteers, council workers, public and suppliers - MKM Redcar is only too happy to support excellent community, family events like this. It was a real honour to have a sculpture dedicated to us.”
