Huws Gray Builders Merchants has announced its first acquisition in Yorkshire, having recently completed the purchase of James Wilby Builders Merchants.

The acquisition includes both James Wilby branches located in Heckmondwike and Horbury Bridge, Wakefield. James Wilby has been supplying a wide range of building materials to both the trade and DIY since 1986 and has built up an excellent reputation in the area.

This recent acquisition takes the total number of Huws Gray trading branches to 59 and significantly expands the company's branch network.

Terry Owen, Huws Gray's managing director, is delighted with the addition of the two new sites to the Huws Gray portfolio.

He said: "We're delighted to announce our first acquisition of 2017 and an exciting opportunity for us with our first venture into Yorkshire. Both branches have a wide range of products in stock and both sites offer a lot of potential in terms of space and trading area.

"We want to continue to build on the fantastic work that Neil Harbridge and his team have done here over the last 31 years. We're looking forward to further developing the branches and continuing to offer a fantastic service to the West Yorkshire area and beyond.

"With the help of our head office support, our wide range of specialist services and our experienced management team, we have no doubt that we can take the two new sites to another level and offer both new and existing customers a wide range of products available in stock ready for when they need it."

Neil Harbidge, James Wilby Builders Merchants' managing director, added: "We're delighted to be leaving James Wilby in such good hands and at such an exciting time for Huws Gray with its continued growth. We've worked hard here over the last 31 years and have built up a fantastic business. We would like to thank all our customers for their support and thank all our employees for their hard work and commitment; our business would not be where it is today without them.

"We would also like to thank the National Buying Group for their support over the years. We're excited to see what's in store for James Wilby under the Huws Gray umbrella."
