Renovations are underway at new Badshot Lea FC grounds

Published:  11 April, 2017

Rudridge has helped get renovations underway at the new Badshot Lea FC grounds in Westfield Lane, Farnham with work expected to be completed in time for the start of the 2018/19 football season.

Previously the grounds of Farnham Rugby Club, The Westfield Lane Stadium Project will create a permanent base for Badshot Lea FC, after an epic 13-year search for a home ground, and will include two 9 v 9 community pitches.

As well as extensive refurbishments to the existing clubhouse to bring it in line with FA regulations, the site will also benefit from the installation of three irrigated pitches, floodlights, and parking facilities.

Along with grants and initiatives to raise funds for the project, in 2015 the Club won support from a community campaign launched by local business Rudridge. The civil engineering and drain works specialist will be helping the club to complete the project by providing expertise and materials completely free of charge.

Mark Broad, chairman at Badshot Lea FC, said: “We are delighted that work is finally underway at our new grounds and can’t wait to see the transformation unfold.

“This has been a project that has required a great deal of determination and effort. We are thrilled that our patience is now paying off and our wait for a permanent ground is in its final phase.

“We would like to thank Rudridge, and everyone else who has been involved, with supporting us to achieve our aim of securing a suitable site and creating a home for Badshot Lea FC.”

Paul Duke, manager at Rudridge’s Farnham branch, added: “This will be a wonderful new facility for the community and the club. We are pleased to be involved and look forward to supporting Badshot Lea FC to see the project through to fruition.”

Rudridge will be working with Badshot Lea FC in the coming months to advise on suitable drainage and groundworks solutions for the site and liaising with contractors to deliver appropriate materials.
