West London-based Lords Builders Merchants has acquired the share capital of E Hussey and Sons Ltd, t/a Hussey and Saunders.

Hussey and Saunders is a third-generation family business located in Beaconsfield, five miles from the western outskirts of London.

Shanker Patel, chief executive officer of the Lords Group, said: "We are delighted to have the opportunity to acquire this longstanding business from its retiring owners. The site, at over 3.75 acres, provides scope for oportunity to grow the business significantly and for the Lords Group to utilise some of the space at this site for central distribution of selective products."

Lords said it intends to make a significant investment in the business over the next two years in order to be able to capture the oportunities this acquisition presents. The site is located two miles from the M40, with excellent links into West London as well as affluent towns in Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.

Both busineses are members of the h&b Buying Group, with this acquisition being the second takeover of a fellow h&b member by Lords.

Following this acquisition, Lords Builders Merchants will operate from three heavyside builders' merchants, a speciliast civils merchants (George Lines) and three lightside merchants.
