A team from Chandlers Building Supplies is taking part in September’s Vado Rally 2016 and will be driving across Europe for three days in an old banger to raise money for the Rainy Day Trust.

Chandlers Lewes branch manager Stuart Campbell and Chandlers Timber Trading director Trevor Mudd will be taking on the challenge in an old Mercedes C250. The rules state that the car should not have cost more than £500 and more effort must be put in dressing the car and crew rather than making sure the engine works.

Chandlers has stuck by the rules and purchased the car for a measly £147. Starting from 15 September the route will take the team through eight European countries before arriving in Monte Carlo three days later having completed a number of challenges along the way.

Mr Campbell said: “The Rainy Day Trust does fantastic work in supporting those that have worked in our industry and we’re really looking forward to taking part in the Vado Rally to raise money and help them continue their work. We’d like to say a big thank you to the customers, suppliers and colleagues who have already made donations.”
