A family-owned Shropshire firm has completely transformed one of its most important divisions.

Tudor Griffiths Group, in Ellesmere, has unveiled its new-look TG Enviro service – formerly known as TG Waste Services – to offer a fully-integrated waste management service to all commercial, construction, agricultural and retail businesses, and domestic customers.

The service is made up of TG Renewable Energy, TG Skip Hire, and TG Recycling, and managers say the streamlined approach is already making a huge difference to their business.

Led by Kevin Gardiner, who is an environmental specialist with over 35 years’ experience in the industry, the three arms of the division work closely together to achieve their aim of minimising any waste going to landfill.

Mr Gardiner said: “This is an extremely exciting time for us at TG Enviro as the complete restructure of the division has given us an excellent opportunity to review our services and procedures, and our approach to sustainable and renewable energy.

“We already have a comprehensive environmental policy in place, but the new-look division will help us to take an even stronger stance and ensure all our services meet the very highest environmental standards.”

As part of its commitment to increasing the amount of recycling of incoming waste at its Wood Lane site, TG Enviro previously invested £1.5m in a state-of-the-art Material Recycling Facility (MRF).

“Our MRF plant is the largest and most advanced in Shropshire, and the vast majority of the waste we process is recycled including wood, bricks, metal, paper, cardboard and ferrous metal,” said Mr Gardiner. “So only a small percentage of the waste that comes into our MRF actually goes to landfill – but even that is put to good use, as it produces methane which we capture to help produce the electricity that powers the plant, with any left over being exported back to the National Grid.”
