LBS Builders’ Merchants has completed the acquisition of Talbot Timber, its largest acquisition to date.

Talbot Timber has been supplying the construction industry across West Wales for over 35 years from four branches in Pembrokeshire. Both Welsh businesses are family-owned, built upon strong partnerships with their customers and local communities, providing a perfect fit.

Three branches in Haverfordwest, Milford Haven & Tenby have been rebranded LBS, with an expanded range of products, and will trade within the LBS branch network. Customers in West Wales will have a ‘bigger and better’ LBS presence, delivering improved choice and service levels.

Talbot Timber has an established timber engineering and sheet material business based in Pembroke Dock, supplying engineered roof trusses, Pozi joists, and timber across South Wales and into the West Country. This part of the business will trade independently of the LBS branch network supplying its customer base of builders’ merchants, joinery businesses and regional developers/contractors.

The enlarged LBS Group now consists of:

  • 15 builders’ merchants branches
  • 8 specialist plumbing and heating merchant branches
  • 7 specialist kitchen and bathroom showrooms
  • 1 specialist roofing merchant branch
  • 1 specialist civils merchant branch
  • 1 specialist timber engineering & timber merchant.

Mark Davies, group managing director at LBS, said: “In our 85th year we are delighted with the acquisition of such a well-respected business. Simon and Jon Kiff have grown and diversified the business and we are pleased they will be staying on with us to help during the integration process. The addition of these three branches to our network will significantly increase our capacity and service levels in West Wales, and all our customers across South Wales will see LBS offer a wider choice of timber and sheet material and improved engineered timber solutions. ”
