An elite team from Plumb and Parts Center and other Wolseley UK brands are about to take part in the Yukon River Quest - one of the top 10 toughest races in the world.

Ben Hughes, Nigel Strickland and Phil Ponsford from Plumb and Parts Center will set sail alongside 13 team members on 29 June.

The Yukon River Quest is the world's longest annual canoe and kayak race and is held annually in the Yukon Province of North West Canada. The 444 mile non-stop, five-day race is guaranteed to test even the most seasoned of athletes.

The team, which was founded by Keith Dorling, managing director of Wolseley UK’s infrastructure division and a keen indoor rower, are aiming to raise £100,000 for Cancer Research UK and to complete the race in just 50 hours.

Mr Dorling said: "It's heartening to see so many people come together from across the organisation to support us. It’s a challenge that will push the teams to physical and mental limits and beyond but it’s all for a worthy cause. Cancer Research UK is a charity that supports many people across the UK and we encourage anyone from across the industry to support our quest for such a worthy cause."
