Having taken Snows Timber from a two-site, £12m-turnover business to a four-site operation with a turnover of £45m, Jim Peryer, managing director, will make his planned retirement from the company at the end of April 2016.

A well-known figure in the timber trade, during his 42-year career Mr Peryer has served on the Committee of the Western Timber Association for 20 years, three of them as chairman, and served as chairman of the national softwood division of the Timber Trade Federation (TTF) for three years. He also served three terms on the TTF’s Governing Board.

Mark Eburne, chief executive officer of Snows’ parent group, Bradfords & Sons, pays tribute to Mr Peryer. “Jim has made an outstanding contribution during his 18-year tenure as managing director, improving the business to deliver excellent service to our customers, developing our people and improving our systems and processes,” he said. “I would like to thank Jim for his leadership, hard work and commitment to Snows Timber and the Bradfords Group, and wish him all the best for the future.”
