Kelkay, the manufacturer and distributor of aggregates, has appointed Barrie King to the position of logistics manager.

Taking day-to-day control of Kelkay’s logistical operations, Mr King will also be responsible for the continuous improvement of the warehouse management systems and goods inwards. He will oversee the stringent quality and checking systems are kept up to date and in line with the company’s programs.

Mr King will be working closely with Jonathan Wilson, who was recently appointed operations manager, to develop and implement an advanced, ISO 9001 compliant, quality control system.

Having been part of the Kelkay team for over 10 years, Mr King has seen many changes in his time with the Yorkshire-based company. During this period he has held the positions of yard manager, assistant transport manager and transport manager, as well as playing a pivotal part in the set up for Glee. With these roles Mr King has gained a wealth of experience of the Kelkay business and been an integral part in the growth of the company.

This recent promotion has opened up new opportunities for Gavin Jackson, who has been promoted to transport manager, and Andrew Kerr who will move to the role of senior planner. Both Mr Jackson and Mr Kerr have also been part of the Kelkay team for many years within the transport department.

Antony Harker, managing director at Kelkay, said: “I am delighted to be in a position to promote from within the company. This can only add to the depth of knowledge and commitment from the team.”
