RGB Building Supplies community fund benefits pregnancy care centre

RGB Building Supplies’ ‘Well Built Community Fund’ has provided £1,000 worth of building materials Tiverton based Healthy Babies UK, a pregnancy and postnatal community interest company, allowing it to complete a renovation project.
The grant has enabled the group, which offers a number of parenting services, to make essential repairs to its building in an effort to address damp and draft problems.
As Healthy Babies UK works within a listed building, it proved difficult to find conventional secondary glazing to fit drafty and misshapen windows.
Their builder therefore used the Well Built Community Fund grant to purchase Perspex that can be cut to size, which he fitted to five main windows using magnetic strips. The group is hoping to perform similar maintenance on the building’s fireplaces. The grant also paid for damp areas to be fixed and decorating materials to be purchased.
Jodie Mortimore from Healthy Babies UK said: “We are thrilled with the work that has been carried out. In the future, we would like to set up a satellite human milk donor bank to support sick and low birth weight babies who are in intensive care, so being able to fix the draft and damp problems was really important to us.
“We would like to say a big thank you to RGB Building Supplies for choosing us as beneficiaries of the Community Fund. It has certainly made a massive difference.”
Geoff Dobbs, branch manager at RGB Tiverton, said: “Well done to Healthy Babies UK. I’m delighted that the £1,000 worth of building materials has helped fix the problems and I wish them every success with their future projects.”
