RGB Building Supplies has announced Prostate Cancer UK as its chosen charity, confirming an initial fundraising total of £526.63 from a two-day event in June.

Staff from the company's Barnstaple, Tiverton, Hatherleigh, Okehampton and Launceston branches swapped their hard hats for helmets on Monday 15 and Friday 19 June, taking it in turns to spend a day cycling on a gym bike in return for donations from customers.

The event formed part of RGB’s participation in the ‘Health & Safety Week 2015’, which saw the builders merchant highlighting some of the industry’s health risks and ways in which accidents and injuries can be prevented.

Keith Harris, product and marketing manager at RGB Barnstaple, said: “A big thank you to everyone who made a donation to our cycle challenge, it’s very much appreciated. This is a great start to our fundraising for Prostate Cancer UK and we look forward to holding further events to raise money for such a great charity.”

Prostate Cancer UK is the largest men’s health charity and aims to help more men survive prostate cancer and enjoy a better quality of life.
