The branch manager of Chandlers Building Supplies’ Great Bookham branch has raised £1,632 for Allergy UK after completing its 100km Nightrider London bike ride.

Chris Vernon started the race at Crystal Palace at 11.20pm on Saturday 6 June and finished cycling at 7.44am on Sunday 7 June, returning to the spot from where he had set 8 hours and 24 minutes earlier.

Mr Vernon said: “It was a challenge riding through the capital as it was continually stop-start for the traffic lights, and the London traffic didn’t seem to ease until around 5am, but I’m chuffed to have raised over £1,500 for Allergy UK. A friend of mine has daughters who suffer from allergies on a daily basis, which is why I wanted to take on the bike ride and raise money for such a great charity.

“Not only have friends and family supported me, but Chandlers and our Great Bookham branch customers have also make donations to my fundraising; a big thank you to everyone.”

Allergy UK is a national charity providing advice, information and support to the estimated 21 million people that suffer from allergies and food intolerances in the UK.
