In support of June’s Bike Week, Brentford construction industry material supplier Rudridge is donating high-visibility tops and reflector ankle bands to Lionel Road Primary School.

The school will receive the safety aids for its Year 6 pupils to promote cycling safety in readiness for Bike Week, which runs from 13 to 20 June.

Darren Price, Rudridge business development manager, said: “We’re delighted to support these pupils with specialist safety wear and reflector ankle bands.

“Cycling is a great activity especially when it’s a part of everyday life, but it’s crucial to be seen and safe. The hi-vis jackets and reflector ankle bands will ensure that these pupils are very visible to other road users”.

Samantha McMillan, sports organiser at Lionel Road Primary, said: “We are very grateful to Rudridge for supplying our pupils with these essential safety items.

“[Cycling proficiency scheme] Bikeability teaches the youngsters skills and confidence for today’s roads and visibility is an important part of that. Whether pupils are cycling to school every day, just occasionally, or using their bikes to visit friends, they are going to be seen thanks to these hi-vis tops and reflector ankle bands”.
