Students get lesson in sustainable building from Chandlers

Published:  12 March, 2015

Representatives from Chandlers Building Supplies and Porotherm gave students from Sussex Downs College a lesson in sustainable building on 24 February.

The brickwork students were given an overview of how the Porotherm clay block system works focusing on its many cost-effective, time-efficient, and sustainable benefits, before taking part in a practical demonstration where they learnt how to use the product.

Phil Barnard, head of sustainability at Chandlers Building Supplies, said: “It’s important that those coming into the industry are kept up-to-date with new products and more sustainable ways to build. The event was fantastic and the students learnt a lot from the hands on workshop.”
