LBS Builders' Merchants has been awarded 'Retailer of the Year' at the 'West Wales 2015 Business Awards'.

The company received the Award on 23 January at an Awards ceremony held at the Stradey Park Hotel in Llanelli, in front of almost 200 businessmen and women.

Organised by the Carmarthen Journal and Llanelli Star newspapers, more than 125 local firms were nominated in eight categories with LBS coming out on top in the 'Retailer' category.

Mark Davies, managing director of LBS Builders' Merchants, said the company was looking to build on a strong 2014. He said confidence had returned in the industry with new developments and people investing in property work, which the South and West Wales region capitalised on towards the last quarter of the year.

He said: "LBS has had a record year and we are looking to do more of the same in 2015, investing in the business and growing. "2014 saw us open six Total Plumbing outlets and also creating 36 jobs and expanding our fleet of vehicles by five, taking us to 49 on the road."
