An independent builders’ merchant in Nottinghamshire is celebrating success after being named sales champions by ArtificialGrass.com.

MKM Retford has been named the top performing supplier of ArtificialGrass.com, the artificial grass brand for merchants, after increasing its 2014 sales by 20% compared to 2013.

To congratulate MKM Retford on its sales success, ArtificialGrass.com presented the team with a signed Steven Gerrard football boot and a Land Rover experience day.

David Gregson, branch director at MKM Retford, said: “To hear we are the top sellers of ArtificialGrass.com is fantastic news. We are surprised and delighted with our prizes; we knew we had done well sales wise, but we didn’t think we would be the biggest seller.

“We took a chance on selling the products through the firm’s no stock, direct to site business model, as we previously hadn’t offered any type of artificial grass, but it has suited the area and we are pleased with how popular it has been.”

Mr Gregson continued: “The new e-learning module the firm has created will also prove invaluable, as we are looking to have all of our staff complete it in order to have a better knowledge and understanding of the products and to be able to answer customers’ questions.”

Peter Toghill, commercial director at ArtificialGrass.com, said: “We are delighted to name MKM Retford as our sales champions and are very pleased with the success it has had selling our products.

“We have seen an increase in the number of builders’ merchants offering our products in 2014 and this is because it offers a good opportunity to diversify and expand the range of products they can offer within the external landscaping sector.

“Merchants have had a number of tough years, due to the recession and its effects on the building industry, so ArtificialGrass.com provides the chance to stock a new product and the support they need to sell that product.”

ArtificialGrass.com offers a no stock, direct sale business model, backed up by a no minimum order rule and quick delivery, as well as a yard stock model.

Other benefits merchants can enjoy are free point-of-sale stands, literature and samples, free technical support and a complete fitting system, including the synthetic turf, edging, membrane, join adhesive and join tape.

ArtificialGrass.com has recently launched an e-learning module for merchants, which provides advice and information on how to sell and install its products.
