Weyerhaeuser/Altripan expand sustainable network

Published:  07 October, 2009

WOKINGHAM: International forest products company, Weyerhaeuser, has expanded its European distributor network with the appointment of Altripan UK.

Building on a longstanding relationship with Belgium-based parent company, Altripan, Weyerhaeuser appointed Altripan UK as an approved stockist to increase the UK reach and availability of its sustainable South American plywood products.

This certified plywood range fits with Altripan's wider company commitment to sustainability and Altripan UK will be stocking the full range of Weyerhaeuser's eucalyptus and pine plywood panels, which are manufactured in Uruguay, from trees grown on responsibly-managed local plantations.

Timber and panel products distributor James Latham recently took delivery of the first container loads of FSC-certified TRP (tropical replacement panel) plywood from Weyerhaeuser, marking the latest sustainable milestone for the international forest products company in Europe.

Chris Sutton, a director at James Latham, stated: "We were the first UK stockist to offer Weyerhaeuser's TRP plywood, adding it to our portfolio based on very strong sustainability credentials and a guaranteed long-term supply."
