Alpha rewarded for taking the safe option
Published:  02 October, 2009

SEVENOAKS: Alpha Heating Innovation has picked up its second heating industry award this year, winning the Safety Initiative of the Year at the 2009 CORGI Awards, adding to the H&V News Service and Maintenance Initiative of the Year Award that it received in April.

The award was given for Alpha’s boiler warranty initiative launched in January 2009. Devised to encourage best practice and help eradicate illegal gas work operatives – and subsequently the danger they may cause – it means that the company’s boiler warranties are only valid for installations carried out by legally qualified gas engineers.

Alpha successfully demonstrated clear objectives, methods of review and outputs since implementation to the independent judging panel, which was made up of industry experts.

Andrew Crown, Alpha’s brand director, was there on the night to collect the award. Afterwards, he commented: “We’d like to think that this award shows an appreciation of Alpha’s willingness to take responsibility for helping to protect the livelihoods of installers and the safety of the general public. We hope that it encourages other leading brands within the industry to address such important issues more pro-actively.”
