LIVERPOOL: Solicitors Mace & Jones has recruited one of the UK's most eminent construction lawyers to its construction team.

Peter Wood, the former UK managing partner of Masons law firm, and senior partner of the Manchester office of Pinsent Masons, will be the company's senior counsel.

Charles Tomlinson Mace & Jones' head of dispute resolution and a construction specialist in his own right, said Mr Wood's role would focus primarily on strategic advice to clients on major and high profile projects, particularly in the area of dispute avoidance and resolution.

"Peter has extensive experience of litigation, arbitration, adjudication and mediation," he said.

"He has led teams of lawyers in many multi-million pound disputes. Peter is known for his astute commercial thinking and tenacious approach which makes him a very good fit for our business and clients.

"We work to avoid disputes wherever possible and always seek innovative solutions. In dispute resolution it is absolutely vital we advise in the context of the business and the project as a whole. This can be a delicate balancing act which requires real skill to ensure the long-term interests of the business are not damaged."
