Not even mixers are safe
Published:  24 September, 2009

SOMERSET: The owner of a DIY firm in Portishead is warning businesses to be on the look out after thieves drove off with a cement mixer from his store.

Jonathan Jonstone, owners of Carey's DIY and Building Supplies in the High Street, said two men drove into the yard on September 10 to enquire about hiring the equipment. They agreed the terms but before completing the paperwork, one man said he had to check something with his colleague who was loading the mixer on to their van.

The man failed to return and counter staff saw the van leave the yard with the mixer on board.

Mr Jonstone said: "We don't expect tricks like this in Portishead and want to warn other unsuspecting business owners that these rogues are around."
