Police dogs trained at merchant

Published:  13 February, 2013

Police are using George Bence Builders' Merchants premises to train dogs. The merchant responded to Gloucestershire Constabulary's dog handlers' appeal for a new venue where they could train their dogs to track people down.

Managing director Paul Bence said: "As a company, we thought that working with Gloucestershire Police would be beneficial to both parties. Our site is perfect to be used as a training facility to prepare the police dogs, and in turn would heighten security within our branch out of hours. Although I just need to be careful if I am working late into the evenings now!"

Dog handler PC Claire Todd said it was important that the dogs did not get restricted to just one training ground. "We are very grateful to George Bence for coming forward to help us with our training," she said.
