OFT clears Wolseley's purchase of Burdens branches

Published:  31 January, 2013

Wolseley UK has received clearance from the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) following its acquisition of 22 Burdens branches across the UK.

Burdens is one of the leading suppliers of utility and civil engineering products in the UK. Its great product range complements Drain Center’s product proposition offering, providing customers with more choice than ever before.

Steve Ashmore, managing director, Wolseley UK said: “I am pleased to be able to announce the OFT’s clearance of our acquisition of 22 Burdens UK branches. The deal is in line with Wolseley UK’s strategy to develop leading market positions in all of its businesses.

“The prospect of building on our presence in the utilities market and developing a leading role in the underground drainage sector is an exciting one and we are looking forward to the growth opportunities ahead.”
