New learning centre for Wigan & Leigh College

Published:  12 December, 2012

Wigan & Leigh College has started work on a new learning centre that will house its Professional Studies centre. The new building is part of a wider campus development project over the next year that will cost £5.4 million in total.

The 1500sqm three storey development will be situated on the Parson’s Walk Centre of Wigan & Leigh College and will be the new home for the delivery of professional and management related courses.

Principal, Cath Hurst said: “This is a fantastic way to end 2012 by marking the start of a new era in the College’s history. 2013 will be a year where we look to develop our learner offering by continuing to provide excellent learning facilities for current and prospective students.”

The construction of the new centre will see the existing engineering workshops demolished and re-housed in state-of-the-art facilities at the Pagefield Centre.

Bardsley Construction has been appointed to undertake the design and build of the new centre with it completed by September 2013 ready for the new intake of learners.
