New MD for NBG

Published:  14 November, 2012

UK: The National Buying Group has appointed Nick Oates as the new managing director of the organisation. The appointment follows a very thorough recruitment and interview process, during which NBG attracted a broad selection of excellent candidates.

Mr Oates, previously a trading director of NMBS, has extensive experience in the industry, both with independent merchants and procurement. As managing director, he will chair the NBG Trading Board and lead the team of employees at NBG.

The formal start date is 1 January 2013, but NBG has said that Mr Oates will be attending the 2012 NBG Conference in Edinburgh on 14 and 15 November, giving partners and suppliers the opportunity to meet him.

James Norton, vice chairman of the NBG Executive Board said: "We were particularly impressed with Nick’s passion, skills and innovative ideas, and look forward to his contribution leading to improved deals for the Group."

Non-executive chairman, David Szymanski added: “We are very pleased that Nick has chosen to join NBG. His positive nature and extensive industry experience will be great assets to the Group."
