Published:  29 October, 2012

SOUTHAMPTON: Kier Property has won outline planning approval for a £40m redevelopment of the site of the former Ordnance Survey headquarters in Southampton.

Construction is to start next summer and take two years to transform 10 acres into 179 houses, office and retail space.

Kier has already developed part of the 24-acre former Ordnance Survey site which was acquired in 2010 as part of a deal to develop a new headquarters for the mapping giant at Adanac Park.

On the 11-acre western part of the site, Taylor Wimpey has already started work on 193 houses.
