Site works start on £25m Northampton station

Published:  18 October, 2012

NORTHAMPTON: Site investigation works started this week at Northampton's new railway station. Main construction on the new station will start next year once detailed design of the station building has been completed.

Experts from Northampton Archaeology will carry out an evaluation of part of the current site, which in medieval times was the home of Northampton Castle.

The new station is part of the 'Northampton Alive' town centre regeneration programme. In the longer term, there are plans for a potential 1,270 space multi-storey car park and a 28,000sqm commercial development on the remainder of the site.
