Barnfield Construction to build £10m Burnley UTC

Published:  11 June, 2012

BURNLEY: Barnfield Construction has the go-ahead to build a £10.1m University Technical College teaching construction and engineering skills.

Burnley Council gave full consent to backers the Visions Learning Trust paving the way for construction to start at the Grade II-listed Victoria Mill site in Burnley.

The college for 14 to 19-year-olds will combine traditional education programmes with employer-led technical training, including apprenticeships to address the local skills gap in engineering, advanced manufacturing and construction industries.

The college will be fully operational by September 2013.
