Searching for investment potential

LONDON: Nominations are wanted for the 2010 Queen's Awards for Enterprise Promotion.
Promoting the scheme, Lord Mandelson, business secretary, said: "Recipients of the awards are individuals who inspiring tomorrow's entrepreneurs and give them the skills and attitudes they need to succeed."
Recipients this year included Murray Wells, founder of online prescription glasses retailer Glasses Direct, and the youngest person awarded the QAEP. He is helping other budding entrepreneurs like Ryan Notz, founder of online construction marketplace mybuilder.com.
Wells introduced Notz, a former stonemason, to potential investors, marketing practitioners that helped him raise funding to develop his concept. The result is mybuilder.com is now a multi-million pound business with Travis Perkins as an investor.
