LUTON: Gibbs & Dandy group is celebrating after being invited to the Saint-Gobain Millionaires' Club – achieving one million hours without a 'lost time' accident.

Presented with the award by the chief executive of Saint-Gobain Building Distribution and managing director of Jewson, Peter Hindle MBE, Gibbs & Dandy together with its group companies, Chadwicks, DHS, Frazer and Normans have all made significant progress in their commitment to health and safety at work.

The  Saint-Gobain Millionaires' Club is a reward for the significant efforts made by Gibbs & Dandy and its sister companies, which include appointing health and safety branch champions, enhanced training, Health and Safety focused customer days and importantly a top-down approach to monitoring and reporting, which makes all members of staff responsible for employee welfare.

Commenting on its achievement, Neil Lawrence, managing director of Gibbs & Dandy, said: “We’re honoured to be receiving this accolade and it is testament to the effectiveness of the changes we have implemented, as well as the diligence of our staff, in respect to the welfare of their colleagues.

“One million hours without a lost time accident is a great achievement, but we should not be complacent and we will continue to strive to improve health and safety at all our branches and offices.

“Health and safety should, in the first instance, be about accident prevention and raising awareness of potential dangers. That means we can never be too thorough in our attention to detail on all areas of health and safety.

“This is also a fantastic start in our health and safety campaign and I hope all our staff keep up the good work!”
