Kellaway expands into Somerset

AVON/SOMERSET: Kellaway Building Supplies has extended its branch operation to include two new locations. As well as a new branch in Wincanton, serving south Somerset, the independent merchant has also acquired the assets of Slate and Stone Bath on the Lower Bristol Road in Bath.

"With outlets in Bristol, Gloucestershire and Swindon it made sense for us to include Wincanton and Bath in our branch network," explained Chris Parker, the merchant's sales development and marketing manager.

"Our brand new branch in Wincanton has a huge range of products in a well-stocked shop, warehouse and yard as well as offering all of the services for which Kellaway is renowned."

Kellaway has also acquired the assets of Bath Slate and Stone, specialist suppliers of natural stone and slate products, which will continue to offer the same great service while work begins on plans to convert it into a fully-fledged Kellaway branch.

"Slate and Stone in Bath provides us with valuable knowledge in this important sector which we hope to use to further develop their product base. We are delighted to continue serving their customers as well as offering them our own products," said Mr Parker.

"Our distribution system means their products are now available to all customers across our branch network."

Kellaway is one of the West's success stories – the family-run business has been trading for 30 years and has doubled in size since 2005. The company now has 10 branches making them one of the fastest growing independent builders' merchants in the region.

"Although the economic climate continues to challenge, our customers appreciate our friendly service and knowledgeable staff. They know we'll go that little bit further to make sure they leave our branches happy," Mr Parker stated.
